“You make the world a better place by making yourself a better person.” -Scott Sorrell
This is a quote that I live and teach by. I have been teaching since 2014. Before I began teaching in Oxford, I taught for 2 years in Lapeer and 7 years in Grand Blanc. I have taught in 6 different grade levels during that time which has allowed me to gain a rare perspective to teaching the whole child. I believe in creating a safe and positive classroom community that fosters and accepts the unique genius of each student. I design my classroom and lessons in a way that makes learning fun and engaging. Building positive student relationships is my priority. I use a classroom economy system to help teach students that their choices have a greater impact on their life than their abilities. This environment cultivates learners who have grit, take risks, and learn that hard work pays off.
I live in Oxford with my husband Shane and our three children. When I am not teaching, I enjoy being with my family, reading, playing sports, gardening, and hiking. I am so thankful to be able to teach in my hometown and a community I love!
