Battle of the Books

Oxford Public Library & Oxford Schools

Battle of the Books is a fun, friendly competition where teams of 4 – 6 students read books from a list chosen by the public librarians and the school library media specialists.

Interested students will make teams of 4, 5 or 6 students. Each team will need 1 adult advisor (parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc.). The job of the team advisor is to provide a location for the team to meet on a regular basis and to make sure that all team members are reading the assigned books. Team advisors will need to be available for the Book Battle. The teams then compete in a friendly trivia competition about the books on the list.

Multiple copies of the books are available to check out at the public library and a limited number are available at the school libraries. The program is sponsored by the Oxford Public Library and is open to all fourth graders in the Oxford School District. This program usually runs February through April with an assembly in January with Ms. Kim from OPL.
