November 29, Wildcat Remembrance Day

Dear OES Families,

Tomorrow is the one-year mark of the tragedy that forever changed us, we implore everyone in our community and beyond to let LOVE win this week and always. On Wildcat Remembrance Day, Wednesday, November 30, 2022, spend this day how you and your family need to – to heal, reflect, mourn, and most of all, to love.

We will be coming together as a school community in solidarity in two ways:

At 12:51 p.m. on November 30, wherever you and your family are at this time, we invite our school community to share a moment of silence together.

At 7 p.m., we invite our community to simultaneously light luminaries outside your homes. Let us light up Oxford with love as we honor the beautiful lives that were taken from us far too soon - Hana, Tate, Justin, and Madisyn.

Your child will be bringing home a luminary with a battery powered candle today.  The luminaries were provided to us by the All for Oxford Resiliency Center.  Inside the luminary you will find a card with information regarding the Resiliency Center and links to supports available to our community.

In addition, your child will also be bringing home a keychain provided by our DA/OES PTO.  On the keychain it says “Oxford Wildcats” and “Stronger Together.”  We are certainly stronger together!

Our students at OES have various levels of knowledge regarding Nov. 30, 2021.  We did not have a whole class discussion regarding the items coming home.  We wanted to allow you to share what you feel appropriate as a family.

I will be thinking of all our families and our community as I huddle close with my own family tomorrow.

With Love,

Mr. Brown
